D.C. Festivals You Don’t Want to Miss this Spring and Summer!
Grab your lawn chair and slather on the sunblock, festival season is here! No matter your age, Howard County has festivals, music, and food events sure to please everyone!
Preakness Hot Air Balloon Festival
Another family-friendly event in the area is the Preakness Hot Air Balloon Festival. They will have over 15 hot air balloons, a kid zone, and a beer and wine garden. For the more adventurous type, try out one of the tethered balloon rides. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, listen to some music on the main stage! This is one event you don’t want to miss!
Merriweather Post Pavillion
Located between D.C. and Baltimore. Nestled in 40 acres of forest, you will find the Merriweather Post Pavillion. Musicians from Jimi Hendrix to the Grateful Dead have played here. The natural surroundings and the fantastic sound system make this a favorite location for bands and fans. The line-up for 2018 includes the best in rock, country, rhythm, pop, and the blues. SpringFest in Old Ellicott City
You don't want to miss this Earth Day Celebration. This year’s SpringFest will be host to 25+ bands on over 3 stages, food, craft beer, and wine! They will even have a face painting area for the children. There will be something for the whole family at SpringFest in Old Ellicott City.
Wine in the Woods
This event was awarded Best Annual Event and Best Outdoor Event! Wine in the Woods offers a wide selection of entertainment, food vendors, crafters, and wine. Come out and sample from some of Maryland’s finest wineries and restaurants. They even offer educational seminars for those who want to sharpen their palate.
Columbia Festival of the Arts
This year marks the 31st running of the annual Columbia Festival of the Arts. This event encourages community engagement with unique art and entertainment. Don’t miss the Free LakeFest Weekend, an extension of the festival. They offer a wide array of entertainment for all ages including 3 days of music, an art show, and beer garden.
Savage Fest
Family friendly fun can be had at the Town of Savage’s annual festival. Activities include a petting zoo, pony rides, and a moon bounce. They will also have a live magic show and live music. And it wouldn’t be a festival without food, raffles, and craft vendors!
