Wintertime Fun in Washington DC
The temperatures might be dropping, but you can still have a blast this Winter in Washington, DC. If cabin fever hits and you need a place to stretch your legs, give one of these fun spots a try.
The Wharf
The Wharf is the best spot to enjoy food, fun, and your friends. Here you’ll find some of the best dining spots in DC. If you’re tired of being stuck indoors, lace up your ice skates and take a twirl around the ice rink. You can also get “lit” around a 14 ft flame created by the famous fire pit, The Torch. The Wharf holds weekly events all winter long. You can gather ‘round the fire pit and make s’mores with your family and friends. If winter sports are more your speed, join a “curling and cocktails” team. No matter your interests, the Wharf has something fun for everyone.
The Washington Harbour
Another hot spot for winter fun is the Washington Harbour. You can take in views of the Potomac while enjoying a meal at one of the many restaurants overlooking the water. They also have an ice skating rink that is open to the public during Winter months. From the pier, you can watch boats traveling along the river. Some of the ships offer tours of the area and dining experiences.
The Library of Congress
It’s obvious that with winter comes cold temperatures and the chance of snow/ice. If you fall victim to cabin fever this winter, why not go see a movie? The Library of Congress will be showing FREE movies this winter at the Pickford Theater. Even though the show is free, they recommend you reserve tickets before the showtime. Most movies start at 7pm, but you might want to check their website before planning your trip. A few of their upcoming movies include; All That Jazz, Staying Alive, and The Goonies.
City Center DC
If you’re not tired of shopping and eating yet, there’s one more spot you need to try this winter. City Center DC has a wide selection of top-notch dining and shopping venues. Some of the best eateries are Centrolina, Del Frisco’s, and Double Eagle Steakhouse. You can also shop til you drop at Burberry, Dior, Gucci, and Kate Spade NY. City Center DC is home to a large reception area and apartments.
The DC Theater
Beat the Winter blues at the DC Theater. They offer different genres to suit your personal taste. This winter, you can watch one of these awesome shows; Judy Garland: A Star is Born, School of Rock, The Musical, and Everything is Wonderful. Some of their most popular genres are comedy, drama, and musicals. Check their website for specific showtimes and pricing.
